This is a rare opportunity to purchase an original hand-made, 6 color wood block print at a remarkably low price. Proceeds from the sale of this print help to support The Bartell Theatre & Absolutely Art (a east side art gallery that donates generously to Goodman Atwood Community Center and Food Pantry and other local non-profit organizations).
In 2003 The Bartell Community Theatre commissioned Madison artist Steve Chappell to create a limited edition wood block print portrait of the theater facade. Chappell worked in his studio for three months to produce an edition of 100, six-color, hand-pulled prints. This was an ambitious effort for both the Bartell and the artist, as no one knew whether selling prints would be an effective way to raise funds for the theater. Before long the project proved worthy, as half the edition sold over a three year period.
Now in 2009 the Bartell is offering the remaining 50 prints at a special discounted price through the month of May. Please consider supporting community theater and the local art scene by adding this unique piece of art to your collection.
